Affiliated Organizations

What is the opportunity? Every community, no matter how small, has their local Rotaries, Lions, JCs, etc. More importantly, these are groups that have a large network of affiliated organizations that communicate with one another. You can only work with these organization when you are completely comfortable with your talk, especially a 20-30 minute version of it.

Why are affiliated organizations important? :

  1. If successful, they connect you almost automatically to other branches of the organization.
  2. They connect you with the local business community.

Where do you find these groups? Again, go to your local library (or different local libraries), and the chamber of commerce. They will always have contact information for these local organizations. However, many (though not all) of these organizations are in the phone book. In most cases, you can contact their national headquarters and get the local branches. We plan on providing a list of website of the major affiliates on the training site.

What is the opportunity? Why are affiliated organizations important? Where do you find these groups? How to you get invited to speak? Call the meeting coordinator, chairman and contact person. These people are looking for speakers.  They too usually get the local real estate people, tax planners, and insurance salespeople.

How do you make money?  Again, through fund raisers, but also by getting hired by local businesses.  Here, the fund raising connection is stronger but more limited. Almost all of these organizations are active in charity work. Many may be open to new fund raising ideas such as the “paid talk” or “sales talk,”  but many will have long established fund raising events. However, some of these events may allow you to work in your presentation.  The biggest opportunity, however, is to use these organizations as entries into selling products and training to local businesses.
